Gurgaon: Three persons were killed in separate road accidents involving trucks, with drivers fleeing the scene in two cases after abandoning their vehicles.Rakesh, a resident of Lakhuwas, was killed after his scooter rammed into the rear of a truck near a petrol pump in Sohna around 10.30pm on Aug 18 while he was returning home.Rakesh’s brother, Naresh, who was following him on a motorcycle, lodged a complaint at City Sohna police station. He said a truck allegedly swerved when Rakesh’s scooter collided with its rear.Rakesh suffered a severe head injury in the crash. Naresh and bystanders rushed him to Acropolis Hospital in Sohna, where doctors declared him dead. The truck driver allegedly fled the spot after the accident.“Rakesh was declared brought dead. His body was kept in the mortuary for postmortem and ASI Joginder was assigned the investigation,” a police officer said.The second fatal accident took place around 2.30am Wednesday on KMP Expressway’s Kundli-Palwal carriageway near Badli channel, where an Eicher Canter collided with a truck-trailer allegedly parked in the middle of the road without indicators or warning markings.Iqbal, who was driving the Canter towards Bilaspur after loading goods, told police that two Shadowfax Logistics employees, Virendra Vikram Singh and Saurabh Gupta, were travelling with him. The impact crushed the Canter’s cabin, injuring all three.Singh and Gupta were trapped inside and were rescued by passersby, who arranged an ambulance to take them to Trauma Centre, Bahadurgarh.Singh died of his injuries, while Gupta was shifted to PGIMS, Rohtak. Police found both vehicles at the spot, but the truck-trailer driver had fled.The third accident involved a pedestrian — Sanjay Kumar (42), a resident of Kishanpur village in Rewari’s Bawal area — who was hit by a truck and died on Jamalpur-Pataudi road near Jodi Kalan village and a petrol pump on Tuesday.According to a complaint filed by his brother Rajesh at Pataudi police station on Aug 19, Sanjay had left his sister’s in-laws’ house in Jatola on Aug 18 for Kishanpur but never reached home.The complaint alleged that the truck was speeding when it hit Sanjay. Police said they had taken the unidentified victim to CHC Pataudi, where doctors declared him dead. His relatives identified the body at the mortuary the next day, police said.Cases have been registered under BNS sections 106 (causing death due to negligence), 281 (rash driving) and 125 (negligent acts that endanger human life and personal safety).
