Rajkot: The Rajkot Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested a 30-year-old history-sheeter in the early hours of Sunday for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm and ammunition in the city.The accused, identified as Haresh Jadav alias Bhuro Jadav, was nabbed from the Vachhakpar area under the Gandhigram police station limits. Police recovered a country-made pistol, three live cartridges and one spent cartridge from his possession.According to SOG officials, the team received specific inputs that Jadav was illegally keeping a firearm without a valid licence. Acting on the information, a team led by PSI V K Zala conducted a raid and detained the accused.During questioning, Jadav allegedly revealed that he had hidden the weapon in his two-wheeler parked outside his residence. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the firearm and ammunition. The seized items were valued at Rs 45,300.Based on a complaint filed by head constable Siddhrajsinh Jadeja, an FIR was registered against the accused under provisions of the Arms Act and other relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Police said preliminary investigation revealed that Jadav has nine cases registered against him at the Kuwadva Road police station for offences including prohibition, assault, issuing death threats and theft. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the weapon and ascertain whether it was used in any criminal activity.Box38-year-old woman files rape, threat complaintRajkot: A 38-year-old woman has lodged a complaint with Gandhigram police station, accusing the history-sheeter, Haresh Jadav, of sexual assault and criminal intimidation.According to the FIR, the complainant came in contact with the accused around five years ago. As Jadav would often drop her home in a rickshaw, they exchanged mobile numbers and remained in touch.The woman alleged that about three years ago, Jadav called her to his house on the pretext of a birthday celebration. There, he allegedly made her consume a beverage and sexually assaulted her. Following the incident, the complainant said she severed contact with the accused.However, three days ago, Jadav allegedly arrived in a white car, showed her a pistol, threatened her, and assaulted her. He then allegedly took her to the house of one of his acquaintances in Indore, where he again made her consume a beverage and sexually assaulted her while she was in a semi-conscious state, the FIR stated.The complainant further alleged that the following day, the accused dropped her near Bagodara and threatened to kill her and her family if she disclosed the incidents to anyone.
