Buxar: A Patna high court committee has cleared long-pending service-related demands of employees working in subordinate courts across Bihar, including grant of an additional annual increment and steps towards cadre restructuring and promotions.The decisions were taken at a meeting held at the high court on Monday evening. Senior judges, top officials of the finance department and law department and representatives of the Bihar State Civil Court Employees’ Association attended the meeting.Association president Rajeshwar Tiwari said the committee approved an additional annual increment for all employees appointed on or after April 1, 2003.On promotions, the panel directed the finance department to submit within one month a comprehensive proposal covering restructuring of existing posts, creation of new posts, cadre classification and fixation of proportional representation for different categories. The proposal will be placed before the committee for further consideration.The committee also approved appointments on compassionate grounds up to a ceiling of 15%. Applicants whose claims remain pending beyond this limit may seek legal remedies.The grievance redressal committee has been reconstituted to ensure faster disposal of complaints. The high-powered panel will meet again after a month to review progress on promotions, cadre restructuring, pay-related issues and other service matters.Welcoming the decisions, the association expressed hope that the measures would be implemented within the stipulated timeframe, stating that timely resolution of employees’ demands would strengthen the functioning of the subordinate judiciary in the state.
