What better way to celebrate the beginning of July than with a New York Fashion Week announcement? On Wednesday, the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) unveiled the preliminary schedule for NYFW’s Spring 2027 season, set for Sept. 10 through Sept. 15.
As one of today’s “Big Four” fashion capitals, NYFW first got its start as “press week,” which was launched by Eleanor Lambert in 1943. American publisher Ruth Finley then founded the Fashion Calendar in 1945, holding her position for nearly 70 years. The CFDA now solely manages NYFW’s official schedule after acquiring the Fashion Calendar in 2014.
With 70 official runway shows and presentations planned, this season’s participants include many familiar names: Altuzarra, Anna Sui, Area, Ashlyn, Bibhu Mohapatra, Calvin Klein
Collection, Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Colleen Allen, Collina Strada, Cos, Diotima, Eckhaus Latta, Fforme, Heirlome, Kallmeyer, Khaite, Kozaburo, Lafayette 148, LaQuan Smith, Michael Kors Collection, Norma Kamali, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler, Public School New York, Simkhai, Todd Snyder, Tory Burch, Ulla Johnson, Wiederhoeft, Zankov and 6397.
Some brands are set to show on the eve of NYFW’s official kick-off, including Ralph Lauren, Coach, Rachel Comey, Cult Gaia and Libertine. Meanwhile, Marc Jacobs got an early start by revealing his Spring 2027 collection on June 29.
