Ludhiana: A businessman has alleged that a father-son duo held him at gunpoint, threatened to abduct his daughters and forced him to sign documents and blank cheques, which they allegedly used to defraud him of crores of rupees.After a preliminary inquiry, Jamalpur police registered a case against Pawan Kumar and his father, Harvinder Kumar, both residents of Jaspal Bangar, under various sections related to cheating and forgery, besides provisions of the Arms Act. An investigation is underway.Complainant Rohit Kumar Gupta, a resident of Pink Park, told police that the accused used to visit his firm to sell scrap iron.According to his complaint, the duo visited his firm on June 24, 2023, and allegedly forced him to sign documents that had already been prepared. Subsequently, they allegedly got a partnership deed executed, he claimed.Rohit alleged that the duo also forced him to sign blank cheques belonging to his firm and later used the documents and cheques to defraud him. He further alleged that they threatened to kill him.The complainant said he was too scared to approach the police for several years.After receiving his complaint on July 22, this year senior police officers conducted a preliminary inquiry before registering the case.
