Kalaburagi: Health and family welfare minister Dinesh Gundurao gave strict instructions to the health officials to ensure quality service and said every resident of the state should get quality healthcare regardless of poverty. Health services should be improved in govt hospitals, he saidHe was speaking at a progress review meeting of the health and family welfare department at the Kalaburagi division-level, held at the zilla panchayat hall in the city on Monday. He said that doctors should be careful not to let patient services suffer due to a lack of medical equipment and medicines in govt hospitals.
Expressing displeasure over the delay in the process of separating Kalaburagi District Hospital from the Govt Medical College, the minister directed officials to complete the process immediately. He said that approval will be given soon for the establishment of the human resource and medicine storage centre required for the new Vijayanagara district.Regarding the delay in the supply of medicines in Bidar and Yadgir districts, the lack of medicines from KSM SCL, and the lack of CBNAAT cartridges in Koppal causing difficulty in examining TB patients, minister Dinesh Gundurao questioned the officials and asked them to take remedial measures so that this does not happen again.“In the current year 2025-26, up to the end of Dec, 90 Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) was recorded in the department. It is a matter of concern that 28 mothers died in Kalaburagi district. Each death case should be analysed in depth, and lapses should be rectified. In the future, hospital deliveries must be increased to reduce maternal mortality,” the minister added. He told the officials that awareness should be created in this regard at the community level.
