Jaipur: The Rajasthan high court stayed the passing of a land acquisition award in connection with the Reengus–Khatu Shyamji new broad gauge railway line project after serious allegations surfaced that officials altered the railway alignment and changed land details between the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and official notifications. The single bench of Justice Anoop Kumar Dhand passed the interim order on Feb 11 while hearing petitions filed by Gulabdan Baret and 31 others. The petitioners alleged that the land identified in the original DPR for the railway line differed from the land mentioned in subsequent acquisition notifications, with khasra numbers allegedly altered.Taking note of the allegations, the high court directed the authorities to produce the original technical details of the DPR, along with the complete record of objections related to land acquisition, before the court. The petitioners sought quashing of the acquisition notifications and demanded initiation of an inquiry against the concerned officials for alleged irregularities. The matter will be heard on March 5 for further proceedings after submission of the records.
