Jodhpur: The principal bench of the Rajasthan high court at Jodhpur Thursday stayed the appointment of Deendayal Kumawat as convenor of the ad-hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) until further orders, and issued notices to respondents seeking a reply in eight weeks.Counsel for petitioner Devi Singh cited the RCA bylaws, arguing that under the rules, any person against whom charges are framed by a criminal court is disqualified from appointment to the ad-hoc committee or the executive body. The counsel said criminal charges were framed against Kumawat on Sept 18, 2025, yet he was appointed convenor, calling it a “clear violation of Article 26 of the RCA bylaws.” Terming the appointment contrary to the association’s rules, he raised concerns over transparency and the functioning of the RCA, and sought immediate judicial intervention. After hearing both sides, Justice Kuldeep Mathur stayed Kumawat’s appointment and issued notices to the state govt, the cooperation department, the registrar of cooperative societies, the RCA and Kumawat. In its interim order, the High Court said that until the next order, Deendayal Kumawat “shall not function as convenor of the ad-hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association.”
