Patna: The Patna high court on Thursday asked the state govt to furnish an action taken report (ATR) on its Jan 2 resolution aimed at eradicating child marriage in Bihar.A division bench comprising acting chief justice Sudhir Singh and justice Rajesh Kumar Verma passed the order while hearing a PIL filed by the gender resource centre of Chanakya Law University. The PIL alleged a lack of vigour in implementing the resolution, adopted in line with Supreme Court guidelines issued in Oct 2024. The guidelines gave primacy to the Child Marriage Prohibition Act, 2006, over personal laws, with the goal of completely eradicating child marriage by 2030.The matter will be heard again on Oct 8.
