Lucknow: A Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has sought UP govt reply on whether former Bihar minister and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) founder Mukesh Sahani was informed of the reasons for keeping him confined to his Lucknow residence for three days in June.A bench of Justice Rajesh Singh Chauhan and Justice Ram Manohar Narayan Mishra passed the order on a petition filed by Sahani .Sahani submitted that the Shahjahanpur SP had issued an order on June 28 directing him to remain at his Lucknow residence from June 28 to June 30. According to the petitioner, no reason was communicated to him for restricting his movement. The petitioner further submitted that the Centre had written to the UP chief secretary on June 30, asking the state govt to communicate to Sahani the reasons for his confinement. When the bench asked the UP govt counsel whether Sahani had actually been informed of the reasons, the state counsel could not give a clear answer. The court hence sought clarification from state govt on the issue and listed the matter for Sept 16.
