Hyderabad: Telangana high court on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the manner in which the police investigated the death of a man, Lyadella, 46, a coolie, belonging to SC (Madiga) community at Geesukonda, Warangal, in October 2025. According to his wife, Priyanka, an anganwadi teacher, Raju was brutally murdered, and his body was found on the bank of a pond in the town.Justice T Madhavi Devi directed the assistant govt pleader for home to get a response from the police on the possibility of conducting a re-postmortem and adjourned the hearing by a week.A Likith Reddy and B Balraju, counsels for Priyanka, submitted that photographs of the deceased clearly showed visible external injuries on the body. However, the post-mortem examination report recorded that no internal or external injuries were found, while the Forensic Science Laboratory report merely noted the cause of death as sudden cardiac arrest. The counsels contended that these glaring inconsistencies, coupled with the conduct of the investigating officials, cast serious doubts on the investigation and warranted a re-postmortem to ascertain the true cause of death. The petitioner alleged that despite informing the police about the persons she suspected and repeatedly raising doubts regarding her husband’s death, the investigation carried out by the local police was perfunctory and one-sided.It was further submitted that despite representations to the Warangal police and district collector and also the Telangana State Human Rights Commission seeking a fair investigation, no effective action was taken.Alleging suppression of material evidence and complete inaction on the part of the investigating agency, Priyanka sought directions for a fair and impartial investigation and for conducting a re-postmortem under videography.
