Hyderabad: The Telangana high court, on Monday, observed that HYDRAA’s move to erect a board on a piece of land in Hayathnagar indicating that the land belongs to the agency was illegal and unsustainable and contrary to an earlier order of the court in a connected matter.Issuing interim directions, Justice B Vijaysen Reddy said: “The less you speak about HYDRAA, the better it is,” and directed the agency to remove the board from the land and not to interfere with the property without following due process of law.The court passed the directions while hearing a petition filed by T Jhansi Rani and her son T Ajay, claiming ownership over the 160-sq-yard land. They alleged that HYDRAA officials had erected a board, without issuing any notice or conducting any inquiry regarding the allegation that the construction was on public land. The matter has been adjourned to Aug 11 for further hearing.Contending that the building was constructed strictly in accordance with a sanctioned plan, the petitioners produced photographs and referred to an earlier common order issued by the High Court in March 2026, whereby the court had set aside GHMC’s revocation of their building permission issued on Nov 19, 2024, as well as HYDRAA’s demolition notice dated Dec 13, 2024.Senior counsel appearing for the petitioners argued that the authorities were attempting to bypass the earlier court order by unilaterally claiming ownership over the land through by erecting the board. The standing counsel for HYDRAA sought time to obtain instructions in the matter. Taking note of the submissions, the judge observed that, in the earlier round of litigation, the court had set aside the revocation letter and demolition notice, though it had also clarified that the authorities were free to take appropriate action in accordance with law if any construction was found to be on public land or involved encroachment.
