Hyderabad: Telangana high court on Thursday issued notices to the state govt directing it to file a detailed counter-affidavit in four weeks in a public interest litigation alleging private persons encroaching on a three-acre govt land at a prime location in Medak town in Medak district. The petitioners alleged that private parties are in the process of converting the encroached land into a layout and are in the process of selling plots to innocent buyers. The two petitioners, who are both scribes, urged the court to direct the govt not to grant permissions for constructions on the disputed land and to recover the land from private parties, following which the bench comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin passed the directions.Rajashekar Thallapally, counsel for the petitioners, informed the court that some private individuals have illegally purchased 1.38 acres of land, converted it into plots and alienated it to different persons. Furthermore, these illegal encroachers occupied three acres of govt land.Rajashekar further contended that there is a govt residential school near Indira Gandhi outdoor sports stadium, because of which the value of the encroached land has shot up.
