Lucknow: A Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court has directed its administration to consider issuing radio frequency identification (RFID) passes for vehicles of lawyers to streamline security and parking management on its Gomti Nagar campus. Currently, RFID access is limited to officials and staff of the court. A bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Manjeev Shukla passed the order on a PIL by advocate Girdhari Lal Yadav. It raised concerns over management of basement parking facility, including allocation of parking slots, scrutiny of multiple vehicle passes issued to individuals and effective functioning of CCTV cameras. The petitioner argued that despite adequate parking infrastructure, its regulation remained inadequate. The petitioner also sought implementation of the RFID system at Gate Number 4. The HC administration informed the bench that the system was operational at Gate No. 3 and can be extended to Gate Nos. 4 and 5 without incurring additional cost. The court was apprised of attempts to clone parking passes, raising security concerns. The bench observed that RFID technology could help curb misuse and enhance security. Hence , the bench asked its administration to take an expeditious decision on extending the system to relevant entry points.The court further noted that several lawyers and clerks commute by bicycles, but a proper parking facility is lacking. It directed the administration to also consider making suitable arrangements for bicycle parking on the premises. tnn
