Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday refused to grant anticipatory bail to Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee’s personal assistant Sumit Roy in Salboni’s land fraud case but granted him anticipatory bail in Debra’s jobs-for-money case.Justice Tirthankar Ghosh observed that since the allegations against Roy in the land fraud case were serious, the same could not be interfered with. Roy was directed to cooperate with the investigation and appear before the investigating agency in the next 10 days.Roy’s counsel submitted that the Debra case was of 2023 and he was being implicated after three years. The complaint was that Roy, along with a former TMC MLA, allegedly promised govt jobs in exchange for money. But the investigating authority is yet to determine Roy’s involvement.
