Hyderabad: Chief Justice of Telangana high court Aparesh Kumar Singh has called upon the judiciary to rededicate itself to the ideals that inspired the freedom movement by reaffirming faith in the Constitution and strengthening institutions that safeguard democracy. “Let us work together in the spirit of unity, compassion and shared commitment to serve the people of India and the state of Telangana,” the CJ said during the 80th Independence Day celebrations at the Telangana high court.He said the high court has disposed of 88.56% of the cases instituted during the last one year, emphasising that the collective effort of the bench and the bar could ensure the qualitative and speedy disposal of cases. He also sought the bar’s continuous support in discharging its ‘sacred duty’. The CJ also detailed initiatives aimed at strengthening the judiciary’s ecosystem in terms of infrastructure, human resources and technology, including laying the foundation stone for Zone II of the new high court complex at Rajendranagar, which has achieved about 20.2% progress against a projected 24.4%.Among other initiatives was an MoU with the school education department to promote legal awareness about child-related laws. Under the initiative, 1,753 school teachers were trained, especially on ‘good touch and bad touch’. More than 500 girl students participated in a 2K run promoting the rights and protection of the girl child, while a sensitisation programme on ‘Road Suraksha Abhiyan’ was conducted across the state. For the first time, cricket, volleyball and badminton tournaments were organised for the high court officers and staff, with plans to hold them annually.On the technology front, the CJ said e-filing and digital court services had been expanded across the high court and District judiciary, with e-summons enabled through the NSTEP Portal integrated with ICJS for instant transmission to police via CCTNS. The integration of NCCIS 4.0 with e-prisons and Telangana police systems enabled the seamless exchange of criminal justice information, including e-FIRs and e-chargesheets.Judges of the high court, retired judges, and members of the bar participated in the Independence Day celebrations. Bar Council of Telangana chairman A Narsimha Reddy, advocate general A Sudarshan Reddy, and bar association president S Surender Reddy also addressed the gathering, after which the CJ presented awards to the children of court staff who excelled academically.
