Hazaribag: Tourism secretary Mukesh Kumar visited the megalithic site at Pakri Barwadih in Barkagaon block of the district on Wednesday. The visit, officials said, was assess the site’s tourist potential. Deputy commissioner Hemant Sati accompanied Kumar during his visit.Megalith explorer Subhashis Das who was also present, explained Kumar in detail about the site and its importance. Officials said the visit came following the directives of chief minister Hemant Soren.“The state govt is serious about promoting tourism at the Pakri Barwadih megalithic, which is historically significant,” Kumar said. He further said the state govt will work towards getting the site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and develop it as a major tourist destination at national and international levels to attract visitors from across the country and abroad.Among those present on the occasion were deputy development commissioner Riya Singh, municipal commissioner Om Prakash Gupta, tourism director Asif Ekram, JTDC managing director Prem Ranjan, Sadar SDO Aditya Pandey, district planning officer Pankaj Kumar Tiwari and others.
