Patna: BJP leader Samrat Choudhary, who will take oath as Bihar CM on Wednesday, said he has learned the ropes of good governance from outgoing CM Nitish Kumar.In a post on X, Samrat linked his new responsibility to a commitment to service. “This is not merely a political post, but a sacred opportunity to serve the people of Bihar and to realize their trust and dreams. I pledge to live up to the public’s expectations with absolute dedication and integrity,” he said.
Speaking after being elected the BJP legislature party leader on Tuesday, Samrat assured the people he would work to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a developed country and Bihar a developed state.Samrat said he had been given the opportunity to participate in Bihar’s governance and work for the welfare of its people with the NDA’s support under Nitish Kumar’s leadership. “The people of Bihar have consistently reposed their trust in the BJP and the NDA, a confidence that has resulted in the party receiving a continuously strong mandate. I will continue to work with unwavering loyalty and dedication at both the organizational and governmental levels,” he said.The CM-designate affirmed that his objective is to accelerate Bihar’s development and translate PM Modi’s vision into reality on the ground.Expressing gratitude to the party leadership, PM Modi and party workers, he recalled his nearly two-decade-long political journey as a dedicated worker. He also acknowledged that during his initial phase with the RJD, he did not have a clearly defined political ideology. “However, over time, I developed a deep alignment with the BJP and its core principles,” Samrat said while briefly outlining his political journey, organisational experience and long association with the party.Samrat extended his thanks to the people of Bihar, as well as to all leaders and workers associated with the party. “My political career gained a new direction once I came into contact with senior party leaders and embraced PM Modi’s vision and ideas. My work within the party organization provided me with opportunities to collaborate with numerous senior leaders, thereby continuously enriching and strengthening my experience,” he said.Samrat also highlighted the various responsibilities entrusted to him within the BJP’s organisational framework. “Ever since the 2015 Assembly elections, I have worked tirelessly for the party, striving to strengthen the organization through various roles and capacities — as a state-level office-bearer, a member of the legislative party, the leader of the opposition in the legislative council, and subsequently, in various other organizational positions,” he said.“During my tenure as the BJP state president, I gained invaluable experience in consolidating the party’s presence at the grassroots level. Subsequently, as the process of forming the NDA govt in 2024 unfolded, and with the support of the party leadership, I was accorded the opportunity to serve as the deputy CM,” he said.
