Hisar: Traders in Hisar are concerned over two alleged extortion cases involving demands of Rs 5 crore each from traders Pramod Goyal and Anand Goyal. On Friday, Haryana Pradesh Beopar Mandal president Bajrang Garg met the affected family and demanded the prompt arrest of those responsible.Garg said a Rs 5 crore extortion demand was allegedly made to Pramod Goyal on Sept 29. On Oct 15, Anand Goyal and his son Anurudh were allegedly targeted with a similar demand. He said such incidents had created a sense of insecurity among the trading community.Claiming that traders and industrialists across Haryana were increasingly being targeted for extortion and monthly protection money, Garg urged the police to identify and arrest the accused and dismantle their networks. He also called on the state govt to strengthen security measures to protect the lives and businesses of traders. Garg warned that if the police failed to make prompt arrests in the two cases, the trade body would be forced to organise protests and call for a shutdown in Hisar and other parts of Haryana. He said traders must be able to conduct business without fear of threats and extortion.
