YAMUNANAGAR: Haryana energy, transport and labour Minister Anil Vij took strict action against illegal colonies and alleged land registry irregularities during a meeting of the District Public Relations and Grievance Redressal Committee held in Yamunanagar on Friday. The minister directed officials to register criminal cases against registrars involved in approving registrations in illegal colonies, stating that such unauthorized developments were causing significant revenue losses to the government. He also ordered the registration of an FIR and arrest of a Municipal Corporation (MC) official in connection with a disputed land registry case in Jagadhri.During the meeting, 15 previously listed public complaints were taken up, of which seven were resolved on the spot. The remaining eight cases were directed to be resolved before the next committee meeting. The action came after Mahendra Taneja, a resident of HSVP Sector-17 in Jagadhri, complained about the approval and registration of a disputed piece of land linked to a property ID. Yamunanagar ADC Naveen Ahuja presented an inquiry report before the minister.Acting on the report, Vij instructed the MC Commissioner to register an FIR against assistant engineer Deepak Sukhija. Since the official has already been transferred, the minister further directed the SP to ensure his arrest after registration of the case.In another complaint, Vijaydeep Singh of Basant Nagar, Jagadhri, alleged that an illegal colony was being developed on HSVP land near Basant Nagar and that the Town and Country Planning Department and MC had failed to take adequate action. The Jagadhri SDM presented the department’s position, following which Vij instructed the DC to investigate what action the District Town Planner (DTP) department had taken against illegal colonies. He emphasized that residents of such unauthorized colonies later demand electricity, water and civic facilities from the government, resulting in financial losses to the state. The minister ordered that FIRs should also be registered against registrars who approved property registrations in illegal colonies. The minister also heard complaints related to criminal cases, pollution, illegal occupation, infrastructure and alleged black marketing.Senior district officials, elected representatives and members of the grievance redressal committee were present during the meeting.
