Gurugram, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini handed over appointment letters to 1,054 newly appointed Primary Teachers (PRTs) of the Mewat Cadre, in a move aimed at strengthening primary education in the region, an official said.
The appointment letters were handed over during a state-level orientation programme held at the Grain Market in Nuh.
Saini said the recruitment would improve the teacher-student ratio and strengthen the standard of primary education in Mewat.
He described the recruitment as a “victory of the merit of the youth” and claimed that more than two lakh government jobs had been provided by the BJP government without the “parchi-kharchi” system.
He said that under previous governments, jobs were given based on nepotism, caste considerations, regionalism and the ‘parchi-kharchi’ system.
He said that after the BJP government came to power, more than 2 lakh government jobs have been provided without ‘parchi-kharchi’, restoring the self-respect of deserving youth, whereas the previous Congress government had provided merely 86,000 government jobs during its 10-year tenure.
He also strongly criticised the Aam Aadmi Party over alleged corruption in recruitments in Punjab.
Saini said Mewat, once considered educationally backward, was witnessing a rise in the number of talented and high-achieving students.
Under the Mukhyamantri Mewat Chhatra Pratibha Samman Yojana, Rs 39.90 lakh was released for 70 meritorious students who secured more than 90 per cent marks in board examinations, he said. The number of beneficiaries increased from 40 last year to 70 this year.
Scholarships amounting to Rs 52.44 lakh were also released to 1,364 students under the Mukhyamantri Mewat Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme, Saini said.
He said detailed project reports had been prepared for 450 school buildings in the district, with the government releasing Rs 200 crore. A total of Rs 400 crore would be spent on upgrading these schools, he said.
Saini also said around 26,000 youth had been provided contractual employment through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam and given service security through legislation.
He said two phases of teacher training under NIPUN Haryana had been completed and around 32,000 PRT teachers were planned to be trained next month.
Addressing the newly appointed teachers, Saini urged them to treat their postings in Mewat as an opportunity for transformation and make learning engaging through games, stories, pictures, activities and local examples.
He also asked teachers to respect children’s mother tongue and local dialect and create classrooms where asking questions was encouraged.
Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda congratulated the newly appointed teachers and said primary education laid the foundation for a child’s future.
An exhibition featuring 22 education-related stalls was also organised for the newly appointed teachers, while a training session was conducted through a PowerPoint presentation on a large LED screen. PTI
