Hyderabad: Slamming chief minister A Revanth Reddy for his remarks, former minister T Harish Rao has stated that instead of responding to genuine concerns raised by farmers and retired irrigation engineers regarding the release of irrigation water, the CM resorted to objectionable language by speaking about “spilling the blood of political opponents” and “beating them with belts”.He said the CM, during his media interaction on Saturday, made highly “objectionable, violent remarks” and was “unbecoming of a chief minister”.Harish Rao said such remarks reflected a disturbing and violent mindset that was incompatible with the constitutional office of the CM.“Revanth Reddy’s statements reveal a dangerous mentality. A CM speaking of bloodshed against political opponents is unacceptable. He must tender an unconditional public apology to the people of Telangana and to the farming community,” the former minister said. The BRS leader alleged that whenever the Congress govt’s administrative failures become evident, it attempts to divert public attention by reviving political controversies around the Kaleshwaram project.“It is nothing but to shift focus from the govt’s failures in governance, law and order, and irrigation management,” he added. He accused the Congress govt of once again attempting to divert public attention from these failures by repeatedly raising issues related to Kaleshwaram, including Medigadda, and the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA).He further stated that while retired irrigation engineers and BRS had consistently urged the govt to utilise available Godavari water to protect crops during drought conditions, the CM remained focused on political considerations instead of safeguarding farmers’ interests.Harish Rao alleged that the govt’s refusal to lift available Godavari water had exposed its lack of commitment towards Telangana’s farming community.
