Hyderabad: Strongly reacting to the suspension of BRS MLAs from the assembly for the remainder of the session, BRS deputy leader T Harish Rao said it was not suspension of the BRS, but the Congress’ attempt to suppress public issues. He alleged that instead of using the assembly session to discuss problems faced by the people and find solutions, the govt is was using it to target the opposition.“For the past three days, the people of the state have been watching the assembly proceedings. Has even a single issue faced by the people been discussed? Has the govt given an answer on even one of its policies? Instead of addressing public issues, this govt is only interested in harassing the opposition, silencing its voice and expelling its members from the House,” Harish said. He said forcibly sending BRS MLAs out of the assembly without allowing them to raise public issues was undemocratic.Harish said people were approaching BRS leaders with great hope and sending messages asking them to raise issues such as fee reimbursement, the concerns of RTC employees over the merger of RTC with the govt, and the problems faced by landowners due to prohibited properties list. He said polytechnic students were also asking the party to raise the issue of GO 97, which, he alleged, was putting their future at risk, and demanding its withdrawal. “The govt has expelled the principal opposition, BRS, from the assembly only because it is afraid that all these issues will come up for discussion in the House,” he said.
