Times News NetworkPanchkula: In the wake of suicide by a city-based jeweller, Sector 5 police station registered an abetment to suicide case against unknown persons and launched a probe.Rajat Khanna, a resident of Sector 4, Panchkula, allegedly hanged himself at his residence on May 28.ACP Vikram Nehra said Khanna ran a jewellery business under the name, Rajat Jewellers, in MDC area. Family members of the deceased said the jeweller had suffered heavy losses in business and a few financiers were threatening and harassing him over payments.As per the complaint, the said individuals were threatening the deceased and his family with serious consequences, which led to considerable mental strain on Khanna.On May 28, police received information about the suicide at a residence in Sector 4. A police team rushed Khanna to hospital but he was dead by the time they reached. Police inspected the crime scene and found a suicide note.DCP Srishti Gupta said investigation was launched on the complaint of the wife of the deceased at Sector 5 police station. She assured strict action against those found guilty. The DCP also dismissed rumours of the involvement of a few police officers in the case. She made it clear that the family of the deceased had not made any allegations against any police officer.
