Ghaziabad: Traffic police has announced diversions ahead of Mahashivratri on Feb 15, citing a surge in Kanwariya devotees. Police said heavy and light goods vehicles will be barred within Hapur district from noon on Feb 13 to 4pm on Feb 16, as large crowds are expected at Brajghat. Heavy deployment has been made at Dudheswarnath temple, where several lakh devotees are expected to offer prayers.DCP (traffic) Trigun Bisen said that movement of all types of heavy/medium commercial vehicles between Lal Kuan and the new bus stand will remain completely prohibited. All vehicles going from Lal Kuan towards Meerut tiraha will turn right from Sajan Mod and proceed via Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Park chowraha through Vivekanand Nagar flyover to Hapur chungi, and then via ALT chowraha through Meerut Road towards Meerut tiraha.All commercial vehicles going from Meerut tiraha towards Lal Kuan will not take GT Road but will go via Meerut Road through ALT chowraha to Hapur chungi, and then through Vivekanand Nagar flyover via Sajan Mod towards Lal Kuan.During this period, entry will be completely prohibited for light commercial vehicles between Chaudhary Mod and Hapur tiraha. Vehicles going will be diverted from Chaudhary Mod via Ambedkar Road through the old bus stand via Hapur Road through Hapur tiraha.Light commercial vehicles going from the new bus stand towards Lal Kuan will not take the Patelnagar flyover but will go from Hapur tiraha via Hapur Road through the old bus stand via Ambedkar Road through Chaudhary Mod to their destination.All commercial heavy/medium commercial vehicles will be prohibited to go from Hapur Chungi towards Hapur tiraha. Vehicles will be diverted from ALT chowraha via Meerut Road to their destination.Entry will be prohibited for all buses and other other heavy/medium commercial vehicles on the stretch from the old bus stand towards Hapur tiraha. Such vehicles will be diverted to Ghukna Mod via Meerut Road. Movement of all types of vehicles between Gaushala Fatak and Dudheshwarnath Mandir will remain completely prohibited.Around 900 traffic police personnel, including ACPs and traffic Inspectors, will be deployed to manage the situation on the roads,” the DCP said.A heavy police force was also deployed at the Dudheswarnath temple, as police suspected several lakhs of devotees would come to offer water to Lord Shiv.With crowds of devotees expected to visit the spot, a heavy police force was also deployed at the Dudheswarnath temple.DCP (city) Dhawal Jaiswal said that more than 600 police officers from Kotwali, Vijay Nagar, Sihani Gate, and other police stations will be deployed at the temple. More than 50 CCTV cameras were installed near the temple, and a monitoring room has been set-up at Dudheswarnath police chowki.“Six ACPs are also deployed to oversee the police bandobast and manage the crowd, while a battalion of PAC is also deployed,” Jaiswal said.Hapur police have also announced traffic diversions from noon on Feb 13 to 4pm on Feb 16. Entry into Hapur will be completely prohibited for heavy and light goods vehicles during this period.A large number of vehicles cross the Hapur area to go towards Moradabad, Bareilly, and Lucknow on a daily basis.“During this period, traffic going from Ghaziabad to Moradabad, Bareilly, and Lucknow via Hapur will proceed to their destination via Lal Kuan through Dadri-Bulandshahr-Dibai-Naraura, or from Dasna Interchange using the Palwal ramp on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway through Bulandshahr-Dibai-Naraura,” Bisen said.For traffic coming from the Kundli Palwal side via the EPE, all restricted vehicles will be unable to exit from Number 4A of the EPE’s Dasna interchange, the DCP added.
