GORAKHPUR: BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan on Saturday likened Gorakhpur to Spain while highlighting what he described as the city’s development.Kishan made the remarks while addressing a gathering at the inauguration of the newly constructed Kalyan Mandapam in Basharatpur, Gorakhpur.Speaking in Bhojpuri, Kishan said, “Hamke lagraha spain, hamke lagraha ye adbhut jagah. Hamke smart city lagraha. Kaheki ham sab jagah dekh liye. Mujhe lagta hai, tum andha hain aankh ka to hum kya kare.”(“I feel it is Spain, I feel it is an amazing place. I feel it is a smart city because I have seen places everywhere. I feel you are blind if you can’t see the development, so what can I do?”)Kishan was speaking about the changes he said he had witnessed in Gorakhpur and expressing his pride in the city.His remarks prompted laughter among those on stage.Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, state minister Sanjay Nishad and the event’s anchor were seen smiling and laughing during the exchange.
CM directs swift disposal of revenue cases, orders high festival alert
On Saturday, Adityanath also ordered the swift resolution of pending revenue court cases and directed police to stay alert during upcoming festivals and crack down on illegal activities like cattle smuggling, Love Jihad, forced conversions and vandalism of religious sites.He warned officials that unnecessary delays in land, property, and public rights matters will not be tolerated, declaring that the culture of endless adjournments (‘tareekh par tareekh’) must end immediately.Adityanath directed that the campaign against the mafia be continued without interruption.He instructed police and administration to remain on 24×7 alert regarding incidents such as cattle smuggling, ‘Love Jihad’, religious conversions, vandalism of religious sites, and the desecration of statues of great personalities.“Such incidents must not occur under any circumstances, as they could pose a major challenge to law and order,” he said. He ordered regular surprise inspections of slaughterhouses and directed that strict action be taken if any irregularities are found.
