Chikkamagaluru/Hassan: GS Manoj of Gurjanahalli village, in Hassan’s Sakleshpur taluk, secured 389th rank in the civil services examination. Manoj, the son of farmer GK Somashekar and Teerthavati, studied at Navodaya School in Mavinakere, Hassan. After completing his BTech at NITK Surathkal, he prepared for the UPSC exam. Without any coaching, he cracked the examination. He rented a room and studied to achieve the 389th rank. Another aspirant from Chikkamangaluru, HT Praveen from Huliker, Kadur taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, secured 720th rank, bringing pride to the district. As the son of retired headteachers Thammaiah and Neelamma, Praveen worked hard to crack the exam. MLC CT Ravi congratulated Praveen and his family on the success.
