GURGAON: Two days after a 23-year-old woman, Kajal, was found dead at her house in Garhi Harsaru, her husband was arrested for allegedly administering a poisonous injection after months of dowry harassment. The accused, Arun Sharma (26), was arrested on Friday in Sector 89. A dowry death case was registered against him. According to the complaint filed by Kajal’s brother, Gurdeep, the duo worked at a private hospital and married with their families’ consent in Nov 2025. While Kajal was a nurse, Arun worked in the X-ray department. However, soon after the marriage, Arun, a drug addict, left his job and allegedly began harassing Kajal for dowry and subjected her to repeated physical assault. The couple initially lived in a rented house in Basai but moved to Kajal’s maternal home in Garhi Harsaru during Holi.The incident came to light on March 18 when Kajal was brought dead to Civil Hospital, Sector 10. Her family alleged that on the night of March 17, under the influence of drugs, Arun assaulted her. The next morning, around 9.15am, he took her to a room on the ground floor on the pretext of talking. Shortly after, she was found lying unconscious with blood oozing out of her nose. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, from where she was referred to Civil Hospital in Sector, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.The family said a syringe was later found in the bathroom, which Arun allegedly used to inject Kajal with a poisonous substance, leading to her death.An FIR was registered under Section 80(2) (dowry death) of the BNS at Sector 10A police station. Arun was produced before a local court on Saturday, which remanded him to three days of police custody.“The accused admitted to administering an injection to his wife on the day of the incident, which led to her death,” a police officer said. Further investigation is underway.
