GURGAON: A 32-year-old man accused of hitting a woman biker with his car on a Gurgaon road was arrested near Rajasthan’s Dausa on Tuesday, two days after the incident, police saidThe accused, Kalyan Bainsla, had allegedly passed indecent comments against the woman before hitting her bike, according to police.Bainsla allegedly rammed his speeding Maruti Suzuki Ciaz into the Aprilia RS 457 ridden by Shivani Chauhan, who identifies herself as Sia, from behind, sending her skidding several metres on the road.Addressing the media, Gurgaon DCP (East) Sandeep Kumar said the victim told police that Bainsla had passed indecent comments against her before the incident.The accused will be produced before a court and police will seek his remand for further questioning and investigation, Kumar said.The DCP said police launched a search immediately after the video of the incident came to their notice. Investigators used the grainy image of the driver captured on camera to trace him.“We came to know that the accused was from Palwal. Three police teams were constituted and he was arrested from near Rajasthan’s Dausa on Tuesday. One more person who was with him at the time of the incident, his role is being investigated. As investigation progresses, we will give further detail,” Kumar said.The car being driven by Bainsla belonged to a friend, the DCP said.Taking suo motu cognisance of the incident, Gurgaon police registered a case at Sector-56 police station.According to ACP (Headquarters) Abhilaksh Joshi, the FIR was initially registered against the driver under Section 281 (rash driving) and Section 125 (causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Bainsla has claimed that the incident was merely an accident.In a video, Chauhan questioned why Bainsla did not stop at the spot if the incident was an accident after she was hit and thrown to the ground.She also alleged that she was targeted because she is a woman and said she could have died in the incident but was saved by the protective gear she was wearing.Bainsla, a resident of Tikri Gurjar village in Haryana’s Palwal district, comes from a farming family.
