Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has extended the duration of the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GujCET) this year to provide additional time for divyang (differently abled) students. Following a policy already implemented in board exams, students requiring assistance will receive an extra 20 minutes per one-hour paper. As a result, the overall exam schedule has been lengthened.Earlier, GujCET used to be conducted from 10am to 4pm. However, this year the exam will begin at 9.30am and conclude at 5.05pm. The first session, which includes a combined physics and chemistry paper, will allow divyang students an additional 40 minutes. For the subsequent biology and mathematics papers, an extra 20 minutes will be provided for each subject. This adjustment aims to ensure a more equitable testing environment.Meanwhile, GujCET 2026 has seen participation from a diverse range of educational boards. Out of the total 1,35,875 registered candidates, the majority — 1,15,050 students — are from the Gujarat Board. A significant number of students are also from CBSE (18,769) and CISCE (729), along with smaller representations from boards across various states including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh.Notably, 12 international students have also registered for the exam this year, highlighting GujCET’s growing reach beyond national boundaries.
