Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad: A 45-year-old man has filed a complaint with the cybercrime police after being allegedly cheated of Rs 76.85 lakh by fraudsters posing as stock market advisors. Police confirmed that a formal complaint has been registered and a detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the money trail.According to the complaint, the victim was lured through a deceptive social media investment post promising high returns. He was added to a WhatsApp messaging group and convinced to download a fake trading app designed to look like a reputed firm. The accused also sent forged letters bearing a fake regulatory SEBI logo to gain the victim’s trust. After investing large sums into multiple bank accounts, the victim was unable to withdraw his funds. When he attempted to cash out, he was asked to pay additional “service” charges, raising suspicion of fraud. The cybercrime cell is now analyzing the digital footprints and beneficiary accounts used in the scam.
