Ahmedabad: Gujarat High Court has directed Satellite police to decide within eight weeks whether to register an FIR against Osia Hypermarket Retail Ltd over cheating allegations made by a carry bag supplier.Green Globe International, through advocate Utkarsh Dave, submitted before the court that it had approached Satellite police on May 5 seeking registration of an FIR against OSIA Hypermart. The company said it manufactures and supplies biodegradable and compostable carry bags and had been supplying them to the hypermarket chain since July 2022.According to the petition, Osia Hypermart failed to clear payments even after the credit period ended. Green Globe International claimed that despite repeated requests and several rounds of negotiations, Rs 65 lakh remained unpaid.The petitioner moved the high court after the police allegedly failed to act on its complaint. It contended that the conduct of Osia Hypermart officials indicated dishonest intention from the beginning.After hearing the matter, Justice M R Mengdey directed the police inspector of Satellite police station to take an appropriate decision in accordance with law on the complaint “as expeditiously as possible, preferably within eight weeks from the date of receipt of the order“.
