Ahmedabad: As part of the National Technology Day celebrations, the Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GujCOST) has started training 10,000 teachers in new technologies. The National Technology Day is celebrated annually on May 11 to mark India’s technological prowess, especially the successful nuclear test in Pokhran in 1998. This year’s theme was ‘Responsible Innovation for Inclusive Growth.’“GujCOST’s large-scale Teacher Training Programme aims to prepare educators for the rapidly evolving world of science, emerging technologies and innovative pedagogies. It is also to ensure that they impart education to the next-generation conversant with new technologies,” said Dr Narottam Sahoo, advisor to GujCOST.The participants included teachers from urban, semi-urban, tribal and rural regions of the state. Some of the major themes include emerging technologies, scientific thinking, innovation-driven education, STEM learning, artificial intelligence awareness, hands-on learning methodologies, creativity and scientific temperament among students.
