GHAZIABAD: A 24-year-old security guard was electrocuted after coming into contact with water electrified by a nearby transformer during waterlogging in Indirapuram on Thursday.Bablu alias Narendra Kachhi of Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur worked as a security guard at plot number 186 in Gyan Khand area. He also cleaned cars.ACP Abhishek Srivastava said a nearby park had filled with rainwater, and current was flowing from a transformer installed there.Around 3.30 pm, Bablu and his friend walked through the stagnant water near the transformer when he suffered a powerful electric shock and died instantly. His friend narrowly escaped and alerted local residents, who called the electricity department to shut down power before taking Bablu to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared him dead.Police were informed and reached the hospital to notify the family before sending the body for autopsy.“No complaint has been given by the family in the matter. Further action will be taken after an investigation once a complaint is received,” Srivastava said. Police have recovered a CCTV footage that shows Bablu wading through a waterlogged stretch with his friend. It also captures the moments leading to the electrocution.
