Gurgaon: A 48-year-old security guard died on Feb 17, five days after he was hit by an unidentified vehicle near Dadi Sati Chowk in Sector 86.Dilip Kumar, a resident of Pipra village in Bihar’s Lakhisarai district, lived with his family in rented accommodation in Sector 86’s Badha village and worked at a city hotel. According to a complaint filed by his son Suraj Kumar at Kherki Daula police station against the unknown driver, the accident occurred around 9.50pm on Feb 12 when Dilip was returning home from work. Suraj said he was informed that his father had been injured in a road accident near Dadi Sati Chowk and when he reached the spot, onlookers told him that an unknown vehicle, travelling at high speed, had hit his father and fled.Dilip was first taken to the govt hospital in Sector 10 and was then referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Later, he was admitted to ESI Hospital in Faridabad for further treatment, where he died on Feb 17. Police said they received information about the accident from GH Sector 10 on Feb 13. The investigating officer collected the medico-legal report and sought the victim’s statement, but by then he had been referred to Delhi. At ESI Hospital, doctors declared him unfit to give a statement. “Following the complaint submitted by the victim’s son, an FIR was registered at Kherki Daula police station under sections 281 (rash driving), 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 106 (causing death by negligence) of BNS,” an official said.Police further said they are working to identify the vehicle by reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas and following local leads.
