Torn posters, accumulated rubbish and stained concrete will no longer define the Chirag Dilli flyover. Wildlife murals are transforming the grime-covered space beneath the flyover as paintings of tigers, lions and birds are adding to the vibrancy quotient.Painter Sandeep Nayak from Jharkhand said a teamof 12 to 15 painters had under-taken the project for Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), which would be completed by Monday. Through these murals, we intend to promote ani-mal and environmental conservation, he said.According to a TOI report published last year, Delhi govt had signed a memorandum of understanding with IOCL to improve city infrastructure, health facilities and public services. The partnership covered flyover beautification, hospital upgrades, water ATMs and modern energy hubs at DTC depots. Under the agreement, IOCL adopted five major flyovers at IIT Delhi, Panchsheel, Punjabi Bagh, Chirag Dilli and Mukarba Chowk, along with a 500-metre stretch of Aurobindo Marg, for maintenance over three years. The beautification work, estimated at Rs 20 crore, was to be undertaken through an external agency.
