Pune: A 69-year-old man and his granddaughter (9) were killed after their motorcycle was hit by a dumper near Nasrapur in Bhor taluka, about 35km from Pune.The accident happened on Saturday afternoon on Nasrapur-Tambhad Road, when they were driving towards their home in Tambhad village.The Rajgad police identified the deceased as Shivaji Shilimkar (69) and his granddaughter, Tanvi Shilimkar (9).An officer from the Rajgad police said the accident happened around 12pm, when Shilimkar and his granddaughter were driving towards Tambhad village from Nasrapur. When they reached Deulwadi, a dumper hit their motorcycle from behind. Shilimkar and Tanvi sustained severe injuries. “The locals took them to a nearby hospital, where the doctors pronounced them dead,” the officer said.He said the prima facie investigation revealed that the accident happened when the dumper tried to overtake the motorcycle on the narrow road. “We detained the dumper driver. The driver was booked on the charge of causing death by negligence,” he said.
