BengaluruThe Karnataka government online services will go offline for the next 24 hours for critical maintenance work.According to the government officials, online applications through various government portals including the likes of Seva Sindhu and others cannot be processed from Thursday (June 25) night till Friday (June 26) night.“For the State Data Centre , a critical infrastructure upgrade of UPS & Battery system is being taken up from 9 pm of 25th June for 24 hours. So , most of the GOK applications which are linked to SDC will be down for 24 hours. These applications will be up and running after the scheduled maintenance work is over,” said principal secretary Pankaj Kumar PandeyIt is said the UPS for the data centre is 14 years old, though it has been regularly maintained by original equipment manufacturers.“Since there are newer technologies to save energy with lithium ion batteries, we are upgrading the system with the fresh systems,” said officials.Pandey also explained that the internal software of the e-office which is used by the entire Karnataka government secretariat will also be undergoing maintenance over the weekend– June 27 and June 28. “This e-office software is being taken up for upgrade on coming Saturday and Sunday. The software will be upgraded to a newer version for better security and will be up and running on Monday morning,” said the IAS officer.The government has taken the decision to conduct these maintenance works on account of Friday being a public holiday and the next two days being the fourth Saturday and Sunday wherein government offices are closed to the public.Meanwhile, e-governance minister Priyank Kharge has urged cooperation from the people and said the decision is mandated to ensure that the security upgrade takes place.Ends
