PRAYAGRAJ: An analysis of the Class X and XII UP Board examination results shows contrasting performance trends among govt, govt-aided and self-financed (private) schools across Uttar Pradesh.In Class X, self-financed institutions recorded the highest pass percentage at 92.32%, marginally higher than last year’s 92.01%. The overall pass percentage for Class X stood at 90.42%. Govt schools reported a pass rate of 87.93%, slightly up from 87.72% in 2025, while aided schools registered 86.98%, an improvement over 86.58% last year.In contrast, govt schools outperformed others in Class XII, where they recorded the highest overall success rate. As many as 83.17% of students from govt institutions cleared the Class XII exams, marginally lower than 83.64% in 2025.Students from self-financed schools recorded a pass percentage of 81% (81.19% last year), while those from govt-aided institutions lagged at 78.98%, down from 80.75% in 2025. The overall Class XII pass percentage in 2026 stood at 80.38%.Data on school participation shows a significant disparity in numbers across categories. In Class X, students from 2,635 govt schools and 4,517 govt-aided schools appeared for the exams. These were dwarfed by the 21,336 self-financed schools whose students took the Class X examinations across the state.A similar pattern was seen in Class XII, where students from 995 govt schools and 4,082 govt-aided schools appeared for the exams. In comparison, students from 13,583 self-financed schools participated in the Class XII examinations.The figures underline the numerical dominance of private institutions, even as performance leadership alternates between private and government schools across the two key board examinations.
