Kanpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath govt’s disaster relief system is showing impact on the ground in Kanpur Nagar. In cases of livestock loss and loss of life due to snake bite, Rs 73.65 lakh was sent directly to bank accounts of affected families from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) during the past three financial years.Amidst disrupted livelihoods due to the death of milch animals, this help became a huge economic support and a reason for trust for livestock farmers. Relief was also given in cases of loss of life due to snake bite. In all, Rs 56 lakh was given for 14 such deaths. Nine cases of loss of life were reported in 2025-26 in which an assistance of Rs 36 lakh was given. In 2023-24, five cases of loss of life came to light, and an assistance of Rs 20 lakh was provided. in 2024-25, not a single case of loss of life was reported.The administration took cases of animal death due to snake bite as a priority. In three years, an assistance of Rs 17,65,000 was given for a total of 46 livestock losses. In 2025-26, 28 animals died and a relief amount of Rs 10.9 lakh was given. In 2024-25, 13 cases of livestock loss came to light and an assistance of Rs 4,87,500 was given. In 2023-24, five cases of livestock loss were reported and a relief of Rs 1,87,500 was provided. Livestock farmers of Bilhaur, Ghatampur and Narwal tehsil were included among those who got relief.Raju Prasad Umrao (Kumhkara) of Ghatampur said after the death of his buffalo due to snake bite govt came to his rescue with the financial assistance. Expressing similar views, Rampal of Narwal said the relief amount came directly into his account. DM Jitendra Pratap Singh said that eligible families are given timely assistance from the Natural Calamity Relief Fund in cases of loss of life and livestock loss due to snake bite.
