Patna: The state transport department has decided to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along national and state highways at dhabas, hotels, motels and petrol pumps to strengthen EV infrastructure in Bihar.Transport secretary Raj Kumar held a meeting on Friday with representatives of automobile companies, petroleum firms and OEMs to discuss technical standards, operations and required facilities for the project.“Developing a strong charging network is the govt’s priority to ensure seamless and convenient charging for the public. Centre will soon provide about 400 electric buses to the state,” Raj said.He said charging infrastructure would be fully prepared before the buses begin operation.The department also plans to launch an integrated digital platform displaying locations of all EV charging stations through Google Maps.Officials directed companies to submit details and locations of existing and proposed charging stations for coordinated expansion of the network.“EV charging stations will be set up in coordination with motor vehicle and oil companies,” Raj added.
