Mumbai: Govt physiotherapy colleges were made available for selection in Maharashtra’s centralised admission process on Friday, bringing relief to aspirants who had been unable to choose these institutions because of a dispute over new intake norms. All govt colleges have been added back, taking the total seat intake to 6,780.The CET Cell published a revised seat matrix on Oct 8, based on an updated affiliation list from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS). Students can fill or modify their college preferences from Oct 9 to 11, until 11.59 pm. Those who submitted choices earlier can now add newly included colleges.CAP Round 1 allotments will be declared on Oct 12. Selected candidates must report to their allotted colleges with original documents and requisite fees between Oct 13 and 16, until 5.30 pm.The original September 27 matrix for Group-C courses had listed only 35 colleges, excluding govt and several unaided institutions. The omissions followed new National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) norms that conflicted with intake capacities previously sanctioned by MUHS.The state had approached the centre seeking deferment of the norms until the next academic year. Following discussions with Union health officials, it directed MUHS to renew affiliation for existing colleges whose sanctioned intake did not exceed NCAHP’s prescribed maximum. The decision effectively allows eligible colleges to admit students against their previously sanctioned seats without waiting for further clarification from the Centre, restoring access to lower-fee govt institutions ahead of the Oct 31 admission deadline.Meanwhile, the state CET has decided that both the attempts of the MHT-CET for engineering aspirants will be held after the class 12 board exam, thus cancelling the decision announced a year ago to hold the first attempt in Dec. The schedule for both the exams will be announced in a week, said officials.
