Lucknow: To improve road connectivity in eastern UP, the state govt has approved a budget of Rs 292 crore for the construction of a railway overbridge in Balrampur district and Rs 261 crore to upgrade the road connectivity in Piprahawa, a town in Siddharth Nagar district adjacent to the Nepal border. The railway overbridge is expected to decongest the Balrampur-Bahraich-Shrawasti route. The two-lane bridge would come up over the railway crossing that often has to be shut down due to the movement of trains between Balrampur and Jharkhandi railway stations. Similarly, the road linking Piprahawa to Kapilvastu, a popular Buddhist pilgrimage site in Nepal, would be widened into a four-lane state highway to bring down the commute time.
