Nagpur: In a move aimed at tightening law and order and removing long-standing confusion, the Maharashtra home department under CM Devendra Fadnavis officially demarcated the jurisdictions of 12 police stations across Nagpur district through a gazette notification, ending years of boundary disputes. As per the notification, the limits of police stations at Kalmeshwar, Saoner, Kelwad, Katol, Mohpa, Mouda, Wadoda, Kuhi, Umred, Butibori, Hingna (Nagpur City) and Pachgaon were clearly defined. The demarcation records, in detail, villages, hamlets, industrial areas and urban pockets falling under each station’s jurisdiction.Police officials said the clarity will reduce delays in crime investigation caused by jurisdictional ambiguity and fix accountability, enabling faster and more effective police response. The move is also expected to simplify the process for citizens in identifying the correct police station for complaints, verification and emergency assistance, saving time and effort.Calling it a people-centric step towards more efficient policing, revenue minister and guardian minister for Nagpur and Amravati districts Chandrashekhar Bawankule expressed gratitude to CM Fadnavis for the decision.
