Bhubaneswar: The state govt has assured a permanent, legal and public-friendly solution to issues faced by small commercial and service establishments operating in residential areas of the city. Housing and urban development minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra made the assurance at a meeting organised by the BJP’s Bhubaneswar organisational district on Sunday. The meeting was attended by BJP corporators under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and other party leaders. The discussion focused on concerns arising after BMC issued notices to homeowners and commercial establishments following the Supreme Court’s directions and existing legal provisions. Participants highlighted that thousands of families depend on small shops and service units that have been functioning in residential localities for years. The minister said the govt would strive to balance legal compliance with public interest, livelihood concerns and the city’s ground realities. He said all necessary legal and administrative options would be examined to arrive at a practical and lasting solution.
