Patna: Governor-cum-Chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain on Monday directed all state universities to clear pending salary, pension and retirement dues of employees who retired till June 30, 2026, by July 20 and submit compliance reports to the chancellor’s secretariat by July 24, amid concerns over delays in the disbursement of retirement benefits.In a communication issued by additional chief secretary to the governor Dipak Kumar Singh, vice-chancellors were directed to organise special camps on July 27 and 28 if any teaching or non-teaching employee remains unpaid. Registrars, financial advisers, finance officers and other university officials concerned will be required to attend these camps to facilitate settlement of pending dues.The higher education department has been asked to depute an official to each university to monitor the disbursement of salary, pension and arrears during the camps. The department has also been directed to complete all pending pay-verification cases of university employees by July 20, the notification said.Meanwhile, the higher education department on Monday launched a special drive to collect pending utilisation certificates from seven universities — Patna University (PU), Patliputra University (PPU), BRA Bihar University (BRABU), Jai Prakash University (JPU), B N Mandal University (BNMU), Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University (KSDSU).On the first day of the exercise, officials of PU and PPU submitted utilisation certificates for grants released by the state govt. BRABU and JPU are scheduled to submit their certificates on Tuesday, while the remaining universities will do so before the drive concludes on July 16, sources said.
