Kolkata: The governor has sought a status report from vice-chancellors and registrars of state universities on the chancellor’s nominees in the university court and executive council. The governor is the chancellor of state-run universities.
The letter from the governor’s secretariat, Lok Bhavan, requested the VCs and registrars to provide the approved strength of the chancellor’s nominees under relevant acts, the number of nominees in position (actual number at present) and the number of vacant nominee positions. The letter requested immediate submission of the signed report.
In state-run universities, the chancellor appoints persons as his nominees to the executive council and court.
