“If you are so afraid, then shut down the whole country,” Dipke said, claiming that the central government was unnerved with the protests.
“Why are you so afraid of the country’s youth that you are shutting down trains, metros and roads? Why are you calling forces from Jammu to Delhi? Why are forces from Naxal areas being brought there? Why is there so much fear? What are you so afraid of?” Dipke told reporters at Mumbai airport before leaving for Delhi for the CJP protest seeking the resignation of chief election commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Questioning the various measures, Dipke said this was worse than an emergency. “Even during the emergency, the railways were not shut down,” he said.
“Now we are hearing that they are asking for lists of names (CJP protestors) from the airlines. Is Delhi and all these places their personal property?” Dipke said.
He said the government had earlier said people would be inconvenienced by the protest. “Won’t people get inconvenienced now?” he asked. “This government is afraid of the youth. This is a cowardly government.”
