Gorakhpur: Gorakhpur is top-performing district in UP in the operation of mobile medical units, securing first position in the Chief Minister’s Dashboard ranking for Jun.The achievement reflects state govt’s efforts to improve healthcare access in remote rural areas. The district currently operates five MMUs that provide free medical consultations, medicines and diagnostic services in villages located far from district hospitals, community health centres and primary health centres.According to official data, five MMUs conducted 50 outpatient clinics across the district in Jun, benefiting 7,053 patients. A total of 1,965 pathological tests were carried out on-site, enabling early detection of serious illnesses. Patients requiring advanced treatment were referred to district hospitals and higher medical centres.Each MMU is staffed with a doctor, nurse, laboratory technician and pharmacist, ensuring comprehensive primary healthcare services at the village level.Chief Medical Officer Rajesh Jha said the district’s top ranking reflects the strengthening of healthcare delivery under government initiatives. He added that the mobile medical units have proved particularly beneficial for residents of remote rural areas by bringing essential medical services closer to their homes.Other districts in the Gorakhpur division also performed strongly. Deoria, Kushinagar and Maharajganj received Grade A ratings, with all mobile medical units remaining fully operational during Jun. Deoria recorded 5,794 patients, Kushinagar 5,827 and Maharajganj 4,218 through their respective MMU services.
