Gadchiroli: The state govt has approved four new undergraduate engineering courses at University Institute of Technology (UIT), Gadchiroli, run by Gondwana University, from academic year 2026-27, adding 120 new seats.The approval, granted by Higher and Technical Education Department in a GR issued on Wednesday, follows clearance from the AICTE, New Delhi. The new courses, each with an intake of 30 seats, are Computer Science and Social Sciences, Manufacturing Technology, Metallurgical Engineering and Mining Engineering.The institute, located at Adpalli in Gadchiroli taluka, will run the courses on a self-financed, permanently non-grant basis, with the university bearing all expenditure on infrastructure, staff, laboratories and library as required under AICTE norms. Student fees will be fixed by the Fee Regulating Authority.Gondwana University must sign an agreement with the director of Technical Education, Mumbai, accepting all conditions prescribed by the govt and AICTE, and deposit a security amount in a joint account with the Directorate. The GR also mandates compliance with Supreme Court directives on ragging and the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act, 1999, besides requiring appointment of full-time teaching and technical staff as per norms.
